The first thing you may want to do is to go to the Government Link and register your telephone numbers so that you are on the Do Not Call List. You will have to give your email address but that should not be a problem.

If you get a call from a telemarketer, tell the speaker that you are on the National Do Not Call List. If the organization is exempt, such as some charities, tell the speaker to remove your name. If they call again, ask for a supervisor and have the supervisor remove your name. Sometimes, you can just press "2" on your telephone to have your name automatically removed. I always push it and sometimes it works.

You can also call the following number from your home,office or cell phone: 888-382-1222. It also is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time but it blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the phone which has the number you want to have blocked. Do not call from a phone with a different number.

If you get repeated calls from a telemarketer, FILE A COMPLAINT. If you have been doing business with the caller during the last 18 months, then do not file a complaint.
